Lee Yeon Hee Krystal Victoria Korean Fashion

Korean celebrities wearing the same fashion outfit is the perfect catalyst for the ever ubiquitous question—“who wore it better?”

Such was the case for the beautiful members of idol group f(x), Victoria and Krystal, and model and actress Lee Yeon Hee. All three girls are under the same talent management company SM Entertainment, and they were all photographed wearing the same dress.

The dress is from the diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs in 2012 F/W collection. It was shown in orange-red and cobalt blue, cut with a high feminine waist line down to a black skirt, with unique color-block and sleeve and collar detail. The look is a little bit mod, a dash of preppy, and overall youthful and girly.

The twenty-year-old fashion icons wore the dress in their respective magazine photo shoots. Lee Yeon Hee wore its orange version in a pictorial for Instyle. Her hair loose around her naturally made up face, save for a stern orange pout, Lee Yeon Hee posed against an autumn background.

f(x) girls Victoria and Krystal on the other hand wore the same dress for Marc Jacobs’ watch pictorial for Marie Claire magazine. Posing as twin sisters, Krystal wore the orange version while elder Victoria wore the dress in blue. Their hair in messy ponytails, the look is cute and playful against a white background, the metallic watches perched on their wrists.

Krystal took her choice of preppy color on a different ensemble for the fashion house, wearing an autumn red loose sweater over a red and blue, two-color polka dot skirt. Victoria merged red, white and blue, color-block style in a baggy-chic pullover of her own.

The overall look for the three girls in the chic dress was natural makeup, windblown hair and a bold puckered lip. So, who do you think wore it better?

Chinese-Korean collaborations in entertainment is becoming more frequent recently. From the initial acceptance of K-pop idols within the Chinese music industry to Korean actors and idols venturing into Chinese dramas and films.

A recent venture of sort is Hur Jin Ho’s Chinese film, Dangerous Liaisons which featured Chinese superstars Cecilia Cheung and Zhang Ziyi, with Korea’s favorite leading man Jang Dong Gun. The A-list casts attended a star-studded VIP premiere of the movie at the Yeouido CGV Theater in Seoul, South Korea on October 11. The stars were greeted enthusiastically by fans, and as always, events like these are the perfect opportunity to showcase their fashion instincts.

Lead actress Cecilia Cheung and K-pop star Yoona of SNSD wore outfits that were poles apart for the premiere.

Cecilia wowed Korean fans with a long sky blue sheer gown that fit her elegantly. Though it sported a trailing skirt and a full sleeve, the daring neckline and the sheer fabric decorated with sprays of delicate beads made the dress far from conservative and made it appropriately sexy.

Yoona Korean Fashion

Yoona was one of many Korean stars that graced the event. She opted for a more casual take with metallic gray short outfit to make her look more appropriate for the event’s theme. The pop star sashayed down the red carpet in a black sweater with silver thread detailing paired with a metallic brocade mini skirt. She completed her hip yet formal look with dark stockings and dark heels.

If you can go long or short in a formal event, which type would you wear?

4 Pretty Ways To Wear Head Bands

When you think or see headbands, you think of the prim and proper girl in class who was most likely to get a scholarship at the best universities. Why is this so? Headbands reinforce the stereotype that prim and proper gals are supposed to wear them.

Well then, think again. Headbands have graduated from high school and in fact can be used by career women. There are a number of ways to wear them, in fact. Here are 4 pretty looks you can achieved with head bands.

1) To basically push back your hair

The basic purpose of using a headband is to push back the hair. The locks can be curled or stick straight, but the headband serves a single purpose. It opens up the face thereby making it a favorite among makeup artists.

2) Over a ponytail or a bun

Headbands worn over ponytails or buns are simple yet they provide a little more oomph to the hair do. Sometimes they are used to add a little height to the crown, while at other times they are used to pull back the bangs or any other stray hair. Whatever option you choose, ponytail or bun, make it a little messy. You’re after the sexy factor, not the schoolgirl charm.

3) On the crown

This accessory was a popular choice among celebrities who love the bohemian look. Followers include Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton, and Taylor swift. When worn with beach waves or stick straight hair, they look vintage- more like in the ’70’s. When worn with voluminous curls, they’re romantic.

4) Simply placed on top of the head

This works best if your headband has an accent piece on the side. On the side, I say, and not on the middle. It could be a bejeweled figure, lace, a satin ribbon, or stones. The band is placed carefully on top of the crown without messing up the hair.

Your mane is perhaps one of the most noticeable aspects when it comes to first impressions. Given this premise, it is just right that you accessorize when you find it lacking personality. Gone are the days when headbands are a symbol of stereotypical television characters or school girls’ accessories. It is as elegant for the working woman as it is for the blushing bride. Many women swear by its romantic, classic, and elegant look. So is it not just appropriate that it should be included in a lady’s closet?

Several trends have been happening in the Korean entertainment world. One of which is actors getting behind the camera instead and trying their hands in directing films. Another trend is suits on the red carpet. Actress from Boys Over Flowers fame Goo Hye Sun is riding both trends, but with a short twist.

Widely popular actress Goo Hye Sun appeared at the 17th Busan International Film Festival this time not as an actress but as a director, and in hot pants, instead of the traditionally required dress.

How To Look Good In Bikinis

Bikinis are very unforgiving pieces of clothing. Wear the wrong one and you look fat. Wear the right one, and you look lik Venus coming out from the water. That itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini is as classic as it can get, but there are rules to it.

The traditional bikini is a triangle otherwise known as a string bikini. Bandeaus, boy shorts, and halters are of a different style, but all of these fall under the swimsuit category.

When choosing a bikini, keep tree things in check- your chest, your cheeks, and your curves.

Choose a bikini that fits snug right at the chest. A size too small gives way for that unsightly sideboob spilling out of the triangle. One that is too loose is a wardrobe malfunction in the waiting once you hit the waves.

Next, make sure that your butt cheeks are fully covered. Thongs are just a bit too much exposure, and it’s not classy at all. Save some room for the imagination. When fitting your bikini, move about and try different positions. Make sure that the top and the bottom stay in place and do not slip up or down.

Lastly, consider your body type. Florals and frills on the chest make it look larger; when placed at the bottom, it gives you a fuller hip and behind.

Once you know what size fits you perfectly, choosing the design should be your next concern. If you’re looking to boost your bust, look for a top that has ruffles or beading. This creates a “bulky” chest that gives the illusion of a larger cup size. If you are looking to balance out the chest, go for bottoms that have ruffles or beading. It’s all about finding a strategic part of your body to enhance or to play down. Keep in mind that patterns make something look larger while plain colors and vertical stripes make things look thinner.

String and triangle bikinis are best for women who are confident showing off a little more of their body. Otherwise, if you cringe at the thought of having your belly slip over the garter or showing off stretch marks, there are other styles for you, such as a fuller piece like boyleg bottom, tankini or crop bikini top. Remember that there is always a style that fits your body shape . If that teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini just isn’t working your frame, drop it and look for another.

Si Yeon brought the sexy back to the black tuxedo by wearing the boxy masculine jacket with large gold sailor buttons over a mini skirt. The look is complete with strappy turquoise and tan sandals. Like Chae Won’s edgy, youthful look instead? The actress wore a black leather biker jacket over an animal print, two-color bodycon dress, with high heeled peep toe booties. Try a version of her ensemble perfect for a day out. Retain the black leather jacket but wear it over a sheet black collared top, slim fitting trousers, dark brown oxfords plus a black handbag. The look is edgy but still wearable for work.

Nice Guy is showing at KBS every Wednesday and Thursday, 21:55 KST.

Choosing the Right Belt

You may think that all belts serve only two functions- to look cute while holding things in place. In fact, there is more to belts than what you think.

Aesthetics

The first thing you might consider when buying belts is how they look. Are they wide? Are they slender? Is the one you’re eyeing on made of leather?

Wide belts look best on full-figured women while thin belts work well to balance out a small or petite frame. Thin belts on large frames emphasize the body while large belts on petite frames eat the girl’s facade up.

When looking for a sturdy belt, look for ones made of genuine leather. You can also opt for patent leather or croc skin for an edgy look. Classic colors to look for are tan or camel, black, and brown. Red, blue, and purple are quirky, but they are not too striking that they can still pull a look together.

How To Wear ‘Em

Belts can be worn with a number of outfits. In fact, you can wear them with dresses to emphasize a waist. This you can do with both body-hugging and A-line skirts. When wearing belts over tops, make sure that your tops are long enough to cover your thighs so that they won’t look to small or too trying hard to pull off a trend.

Contrary to what they always say, your shoes do not always have to match the color of your belt. It looks fine and polished, but a little mix and match goes a long way. Try, for example, a navy belt with tan shoes, or a camel belt with red pumps. The trick is to find a unifying article among them, like, say studs or velvet.

Take a look at how these ladies put their looks together using belts.

The jackets come in a sporty cropped cut and in happy colors of orange, blue, and green to bring out the girls’ cheerful personas. They wore the jackets over black-and-white graphic tees, and played up the contrast with what else, but full white ballerina’s tutus. To complete the look, Nana, Raina and Lizzy wore sheer patterned white stockings with white leather Doc Marten boots with black shoestrings.

Don’t have a variety show or Music Bank performance to wear this spicy outfit too? Tone it down by wearing darker stockings, knee-length socks, or by ditching it completely. Substitute the tutus with your skirt of choice—a short chiffon pleated skirt, or maybe a flowing maxi skirt, or even a nude colored mullet skirt for a jazzier look. Be adventurous like Nana above and get some pink eyebrows to go with some awesome nail art!
