How to Wear Animal Prints

Animal print is by far the most difficult pattern to pull-off. This is because of two things: First, you don’t want to look like the daughter of Tarzan or an Amazon woman. Second, you don’t want to look like a cougar. It takes a lot of precaution when wearing this print, but if you do it the right way, it could make for an interesting number. Let’s take a look at how Hollywood celebs pull it off:

How To Wear Animal Prints

How To Wear Animal Prints (Image Source)

The first thing you want to consider when wearing animal print is to keep it simple and at a minimum. If you’re going for an animal print dress, pair it with plain shoes, a clutch, and jewelry. If you’re going for animal print shoes or bags, keep everything else in one shade. This makes the print the focus of the entire look and gives it a subtle charm.

How To Wear Animal Prints

The same thing applies to accessories. If you’re wearing a thin belt, then you can pair it with animal print shoes. However, if the belt is thick, leave the shoes to be in a plain color. Jewelry, on the other hand, such as watches and bangles can be piled on as long as the style is simple.

How To Wear Animal Prints

Second, you want to keep the animal prints as close to their natural color as possible. It just seems so wrong and tacky when they’re in pink, blue, or (gasp!) green. Remember, classic colors are beige, black, white, and brown.

Here are a few others ways to wear animal print. Notice how they keep it elegant and subtle by keeping the prints at a minimum.

So now that you know how to wear them, here are a couple of tips on how NOT to wear animal print. You wouldn’t want to be caught dead wearing one of these.

Pile it on

How To Wear Animal Prints

How To Wear Animal Prints (Image Source)

Like makeup, it’s  not something you should pile  up on or else you’d look like a cheetah over a zebra over a leopard over a cow. Do not wear it with fur either.

As a one-piece swimsuit

Unless you’re Jane to someone’s Tarzan- or perhaps an Amazonian woman- you do not wear animal print as a one-piece swimsuit.

Multicolored

This is not how you wear it elegantly. Notice the multicolored pattern.

As a one-piece wonder

Whether it is something sexy or something baggy, animal print is overwhelming when worn in extreme lengths. Not only does the pattern strain the eyes but the length and unnecessary showing of skin is also a crime.

So there you have it. Tricky, isn’t it? No matter how you wear them, it takes a little bit of courage to pull it off. Animal prints are a difficult thing mix and match with, but with what you know now, I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to wear it the right way. Keep in mind that when it comes to this pattern, minimalistic designs and toned down usage is key.

‘Gangnam Style’ Dance Fever On The Rise (강남스타일)

Ever since the famous Korean Pop song ‘Nobody’ by the Wonder Girls became a huge global hit in 2009, there were probably no other Kpop songs that came close to becoming a global sensation. All these are set to change by PSY with his wacky thumping dance video ‘Gangnam Style’ that was first published at 15th July 2012 on YouTube.

PSY’s original name is known as Park Jae Sang (born in December 31, 1977). He is a well-respected Korean hip hop artist cum rapper and is well-known for his satirical humor and entertaining persona, where he impersonates female singers such as Park Ji Yoon and Lee Hyori. An alumni of Boston University and Berklee College of Music, PSY proves that he still have the prowess to create not just a signature piece, but one that takes the world by storm, despite being out of action for the last 2 years.

Gangnam Style’s success is purely out of entertainment value. Perhaps it’s the catchy ‘Op…Op…Op..Oppa’ phrase, the comical horse-riding and cowboy dance moves, the hilarious way that PSY look in the video, or even the wacky title ‘Gangnam Style’ which totally makes no sense. Gangnam is one of the affluent districts in Seoul and is where all the big name offices and commercial buildings are located. ‘Oppa’ is brother in Korean. Just thinking of what ‘Oppa Gangnam style’ means can make you feel silly and laughing in bewilderment.

Anyway, there’s just something about the mish-mash of all these elements that makes the entire video an odd success. Fans of this video include Josh Groban, Robbie William and T-Pain. Pop-opera singer Josh Groban tweeted, “It’s a Gangnam Style world, we’re just living in it. Amazing video.” UK pop star Robbie Williams shared the video with his fans and this liner: “P.S. TRY WATCHING THIS AND NOT SMILING I DARE YOU…(NOT EVEN A LIP CURL).” US rapper T-Pain tweeted: “Words cannot even describe how amazing this video is.” ‘Gangnam Style’ has since gone viral worldwide and has garnered 39 million views in just a short span of less than 2 months.

Enough said, let’s check it out now.

Numberous versions of ‘Gangnam style’ videos are already sprouting across YouTube like fire, including spoofs and flash mobs. Just do a search and you’ll see many. After all the laughs watching the original video, let’s do a sexy take of ‘Gangnam Style’ by Waveya, which is a group of Korean Female Dancers who are famous for making sexy dance covers of popular Kpop songs. 5 Bad Habits That Women Should Ditch

1)    Wearing High Heel Shoes Everyday

Wearing High Heel Shoes Everyday

Killer Heels (Image Source)

We all know that wearing stilettos or those strappy 4-inch heels look great with our outfits. They give our height a boost and make us look ultra-sexy and feminine. The thing is, if you are going to wear just that every day, you are highly likely to develop chronic health issues someday.

High heels not only affect your walking posture, it can also place unnecessary stress on your knee joints and cause arthritis to develop. Long term wearing of high heels can also cause chronic back pain because your body will lean forward automatically when you are wearing heels. The poor body alignment is what causes back pain.  Pointed high heel pumps can easily cause bunions to grow on your feet which are painful and difficult to heal.

The higher your heels are, the higher your risks of tripping (think models who trip on runways!). If you are not walking correctly or maintaining the right posture while strutting in those killer heels, it is very easy to trip and sprain your ankles, especially when you are walking down the stairs. If you must wear heels daily, try not to go above 3 inches. The best is to alternate your killer heels with other types of shoes like 3 inchers, ballet flats and wedges in between to give your lovely feet a well-deserved break.

2)    Carrying Heavy Bags

Heavy Bags

Heavy Bags (Image Source)

Do you fancy big tote bags because you simply like to dump all your stuff and necessities inside and not having to worry about leaving anything out? Chances are, your bag is always heavy and you have way too many ‘necessities’. Many women are guilty of this, including myself. We can’t leave home without our comfort items like makeup pouch, perfume, medication box, credits cards, loyalty cards and blah blah. We think they are necessities but how many times have we actually use them?

If your bag is anything more than 2kg (some women carry 5kg bags!), it’s likely that you will experience pain and tension in your upper body someday. Carrying a heavy bag is like carrying weights on your shoulder. It will stress your shoulders, arms, neck and back. The weight of the bag disrupts the blood circulation in your upper body, which is why you will feel sore, pain or numbness on your shoulders and arms.

To avoid this, plan your bag inventory in advance each day and bring only what you need for the following day. You can try short-listing your makeup kit and use a smaller pouch, transferring some lotion to a mini bottle, or leaving out some items completely (do you really need your phone charger?).

Plan for a few ‘mini bags’ days in a week, so you will be trained to think creatively and pack only what you need. So what if you really need to use a comfort item that you happen to leave it out that day? Well, such things do happen, but not all the time. Take it in good stride and see you can borrow from someone else, or simply make do without it that day.

3)    Wearing The Wrong Bra

Wearing Wrong Bra

Wearing Wrong Bra (Image Source)

According to a research done, about 70% of women are wearing the wrong bra. Of these, they are either wearing a bra that is not the right size or one that does not give them the right support. An ill fitting bra will cause spillage, giving your boobies a weird shape, or form dreaded fat rolls to spill out from the sides of your bra around the upper back area. This is awful looking. The lumps of fats will be visible especially when you are wearing a tight fitting top. The wrong bra might also cause pain on your neck and back, or cause discomfort in the chest that can hinder your breathing and blood circulation. It can also result in bad posture and skin irritation. If you are unsure of what bra to go for, it’s always wise to consult the sales staff before you buy anything. They are usually trained in helping customers to identify the right type of bra and the right bra size that fits.

4)    Not Removing Your Makeup

Not Removing Makeup

Not Removing Makeup (Image Source)

Makeup is probably one of the most important things that women cannot live without. It makes us look pretty and give us the confidence boost. However, it can also be a double edged sword if we don’t make it a good habit to remove it before going to bed. Most women might have some experience of reaching home late and going straight to bed because they are too dead tired to even take a shower, let alone remove their makeup. If this becomes a habit, it will damage your skin. The makeup debris will clog your pores, making your skin hard to breathe, which in turn makes it dry. This can easily cause a nasty acne breakout that may be hard to treat or cause crow lines to develop over-time. There’s also a risk of getting blood-shot eyes or other forms of eye infection if the mascara or eye-shadow debris get into your eyes. So ladies, learn to love your skin better by making it a habit to remove your makeup before you sleep (more important than taking a shower!).

5)    Not Getting Enough Sleep

Not Enough Sleep

Not Enough Sleep (Image Source)

This one is probably one of the most common problems that women face. Due to busy lifestyles, work/family commitments and other distractions, women tend to sleep less than the required 8 hours. Many are even going to bed only after midnight, thereby missing the said optimal time for beauty sleep, which is from 10pm to 2am where our skin will be able to detoxify and rejuvenate most effectively. Most of us know that a lack of sleep will give us bad skin, dark eye-rings and awful eye bags. However, you probably might not be aware that not getting enough sleep can also result in several health conditions in the long run, such as fatigue, poor digestion, heart conditions, high blood pressure, bad mood swings or even depression. Women also tend to have a higher chance of experiencing sleep difficulty more than men. Hence, it is crucial to take good care of our bodies by sleeping at the right time and ensuring that we get a quality sleep each night.

Fly High With Aviators!

Ray Ban Aviators

Ray Ban Aviators (Image Source)

Did you know that Aviator sunglasses were originally designed for pilots? They were developed by Bausch & Lomb which was later branded as Ray-Ban. In 1936, Ray-Ban developed these shades for American pilots to protect their eyes in-flight. In fact, the shape itself is reminiscent of the lenses that are found in some of the pilots’ helmets.

Aviators Fashion

Ray-Ban made the shades available to the public a year later. It became very popular after Gen. Douglas McArthur, the Pacific War hero was photographed a number of times wearing these babies.

Of course, after the war, it became one of the most recognizable images. It has been so popular since the hippie movement of the 1960’s that it even went on to dominate pop culture in the 80’s,90’s, up until now. In fact, it’s been a favorite of artists, athletes, and celebrities that it has influenced generations of followers from all aspects of society.

If there’s one pair of sunglasses that every person must own, it’s a pair of aviators. It’s versatile enough to be worn by both men and women, and it never fails to give off that “devil may care/I’m a bad-ass/I’m the boss” touch to every ensemble. Especially for women, this staple gives off a very masculine tone. Despite the extra testosterone this pair adds to your look, it’s always a great idea to have them around.

Here are some suggestions I have for you when wearing them.

Pair it with something rugged or masculine. Ripped denims, windbreakers, leather jackets, and boots- these would go well with aviators. Casual is key, and dainty isn’t something you’re going for with this pair.

Pick one that suits your face. Aviators might be the sunglasses of choice for many, but there are different kinds that suit different face types. Larger and wider faces need bigger lenses while smaller faces need smaller frames. Keep in mind, though, that the classic Aviator shades have a very light steel frame, either in gold or silver. The lenses should not be curved either so that when you turn on your side, there is a straight, thin line.

Aviators Fashion

Aviators Fashion (Image Source)

Aviators Fashion

Aviators Fashion (Image Source)

The simpler the better. Aviators are very minimalist in design. The classic aviator, with mirrored lenses and a thin, metal frame, has been copied by so many designers. There have been ones whose lenses gradually darken or lighten from top to bottom. There are also some whose frames are made of plastic. There are others in shades of pink, orange, and whatever hue the designer fancies. The simpler the aviators you have, the longer it will transcend through fads and time.

So keep these things in mind when you’re on the hunt for your perfect aviator sunglass. When in doubt, always go for this classic piece.

How to Wear Mini Skirts and Shorts Trendily

Korean Fashion 2012

Short skirts and shorts are considered basic staple pieces in a girl’s wardrobe. They are usually worn as a casual wear over the weekends, often with t-shirts or tank tops. The thing is, short skirts and shorts are also some of the most versatile clothing that you can mix and match easily your other outfits. You can be really creative and create lots of different looks with them.

There is a misconception that only slim girls can pull off short skirts and shorts. By following some of these guidelines and tips, you too can achieve a trendy look regardless of your size.

1.  Choose the right type of skirt and shorts

• Tight mini skirts and shorts are more suitable for younger teens, or slim and long-legged women.

• To achieve a more mature or classy look, minis that don’t cling will be perfect for you like those skirts with kilts, wraps and pleats.

• High-waist shorts and skirts can make your legs look longer.

• Another option is by wearing leggings with your shorts and skirts. Dark colored leggings such as black, chocolate brown, plums and steel grays are more mature looking, while lighter colors are more suited for teenagers. Leggings will emphasize the legs. Patterned stockings, fishnets, and half- leggings are also another options to show your versatility and creativity.

2. Choose the right shoes.

• To achieve a more girlish look, you can wear wedges or ballet flats to pair with your shorts or skirts. If you are taller, you can also wear flats with ankle straps to emphasize your long legs (not advisable for those who are shorter).

• Heels look best for a night out.

• Pairing boots with skirts is also a great idea for a stylish look. Its best to avoid wearing knee-high black boots with shorts because they are difficult to pull off and can give other people a ‘cheap’ feel. Choosing a pair of boots in a tone that’s similar to your skin color will help to elongate your legs.

• Wedges are great with mini skirts or shorts as it makes you look taller

3.  Choose the right top

• With tight mini skirts, you can wear long or voluminous tops to go with them. It will help to generate a sexy chic vibe.

• You can tuck in your top into your shorts or short skirts to emphasize your waistline. Cinching your waist with a belt will have a better effect.

• When matching plain sleeveless top with a short skirt or shorts, you can layer it with a cardigan and wear a colorful bead necklace to create a more youthful, fun and trendy look.

Additional Tips:

• Don’t just follow the trend. Choose a short skirt or shorts that are not just appropriate for your body type, but also reflects your style and personality at the same time. There are all kinds of styles, from the classic, the trendy, the demure to the sporty, so pick a style that is best suited for you.

• Wear the right underwear under your short skirts or shorts. If they are a little tighter, its best to wear a seamless panty or a G-string to avoid VPL (Visible Panty Line). VPL is an ugly sight and every woman should make an effort to avoid them.

•  We all know that not all women are blessed with long, skinny legs, but that doesn’t need to stop you from wearing shorts and skirts. You just have to identify what are the best ways to wear them. If worn correctly, it will help create a height illusion on a girl, even though she might not be tall.

Go Crazy with Ankle Booties

There’s always a great shoe for every girl. Size and shape doesn’t matter- all you need is a fabulous pair of shoes to complement any outfit. One of the modern staples every woman should have in her shoe collection are ankle booties or more commonly known as ankle boots.

Ankle boots are perfect for cool weather, say, spring time or autumn. These cowboy inspired fashion statements are just that- attention seeking pieces that make an outfit a little rugged. But like every fashion item, there are rules to follow that will make these babies enhance or even make a statement on how you look.  Here’s a run-down.

Structure

Ankle boots are boots cut up to the ankle bone. Some fashion houses design them with wedge heels; others prefer to give them stiletto heels. Some styles can be folded to shorten the length. Others have details such as ribbons and metallic studs. Bold, metallic zippers are common multi-functional accessories that make putting the shoes on and taking them off easy. Another way of doing this is by using lace-ups. Most of the time, they are either made of suede or leather which makes them warm and comfortable enough to wear in cold weather.

How to wear Ankle Boots

Ankle boots are fairly easy to style with. As they are an accessory on their own, you need an outfit that shows them off. These boots are made to be worn with slender bottoms, so you’d do the designers a favor by showing them off with a pair of skinny jeans, leggings, or tights. Contrasting colors work, or simply a hue that brings out the shade of the shoe.

One thing you should also keep in mind is that ankle boots emphasize the ankles, so it’s best worn with those who have slender calves and ankles. This is because it cuts off a visual chunk of your legs. If they’re on the chubby side, you’d have a difficult time making them look slender. For those on the curvier side, a longer length would suit you better.

You can also wear these pretty little booties with dresses- just make sure that they are the proper length. The ideal length for this type of boots ranges from mini to 2 inches above the knee. Any longer and the hemline would shorten your legs visually. The nice thing about wearing them with dresses is that they make your legs look longer while keeping your feet warm.

Ankle boots are something that will dress up any outfit immediately. In fact, it has been a popular go-to shoe that fashion-savvy women pair with skinnies and dresses. With the many designs out there, ankle booties are most definitely a mainstay in fashion. They’re adorable and petite, but they pack a big punch when it comes to styling an entire wardrobe.
