Glam Rock Chic Bags

We love how the glam rock fashion can make one look cool almost instantly, and its great to dress up like a rock chick sometimes. A glam rocker is often seen wearing something black, which can be their outfit, accessories or shoes. The other significant thing to this look is the studs. Studded black jackets, studded boots, studded bags, you name it. If you are new to this look, the easiest way to start experimenting is to carry a cool studded bag, which will help add some ‘rocker feel’ to your outlook almost immediately. Once you get comfortable with it, you can then add on more ‘rocker’ items. Here’s some awesome rocker bags that we came across.

A Makeup Tutorial On How To Look Like Tiffany (From Girl’s Generation)

Here’s a great makeup video tutorial on how to get Tiffany’s look in Girl’s Generation music video ‘The Boys’. This video was done by Jane via her popular makeup blog ‘From Head To Toe‘. Although it was done in Nov last year, it is still an impressive tutorial where the seemingly complex look was brilliantly broken down into step-by-step chunks that we can follow. For those who are unfamiliar with Jane, she is one of the few beauty bloggers who got famous from their YouTube video tutorials and also of Asian heritage. Jane’s Korean American, which is why she has tons of makeup tutorials that are K-pop inspired. Check out her blog for more great stuff.

Now back to the video, here’s how Tiffany look like in the music video:

Ribbon Shoes By Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton Fashion

Paris Hilton

At the mention of Paris Hilton, the first thoughts that came to mind are probably along the lines of a rich heiress, fashionista, a socialite living the high life or maybe even a blonde airhead to some. Her popularity in showbiz is also underrated, as people see her rise to fame not because of her talent or hard work, but rather from her notorious lifestyle and wealthy background. Apart from being a celebrity, many of us are probably not aware that she’s also a businesswoman in the fashion industry.

In fact, Paris owns a successful line of fashion and perfumes, which were leveraged heavily on her celebrity status for the endorsement of her brand. According to Wikipedia, ‘her fragrances have reportedly earned $1.5 billion. Currently, there are 55 Paris Hilton Stores worldwide carrying a wide range of items from perfumes, purses, watches, bags, to t-shirts and shoes. Apparently, she earns over $10 million a year from her brand and is paid $300,000 for appearances in clubs and events.’

It’s hard to describe how her stuff look like because there isn’t a distinctive style tied to her brand. Apart from a couple of eye-catching fragrances, her handbags and watches are nothing to shout about.

One thing that caught our attention though, is her line of pretty ribbon shoes that could easily be the ‘it’ product from her brand. They are not just great for the casual days at work, but also for partying where they can add fun and creativity to your outlook. If you are a jeans and tee kind of girl, wearing a pair of ribbon pumps as such will give your outfit an instant boost.

It’s definitely the fun and girly kind of shoes that every girl must have in their shoe rack.

A-Line Dresses for All Occasions

When it comes to dresses, A-lines are the easiest to pull off. Not only are they forgiving and flattering to any body shape and size, but they are also the most versatile shape.

The shape became widely popular because of the French couture designer Yves Saint Laurent. In 1955, he released a collection named Trapeze Line which popularized a different take on Christian Dior’s most wanted silhouette in Paris. The silhouette was largely popular in the 1950’s to the 1970’s but gradually disappeared from the fashion scene in the 1980’s. It had a welcome comeback thanks to the dominant retro theme of the 1990’s which celebrated the popular styles of the swinging sixties.

How do you differentiate A-line dresses from other styles? Simple. The trick is to look at the shape of the clothing. An authentic A-line is tapered at the top, with fitted shoulders and cinced waist for dresses and skirts. The bottom half of the skirt or dress (that below the waist) then spreads out to an A shape. For coats, A-lines have small shoulders leading to a full body. A-Lines have no pleats; otherwise, they to be categorized as full skirts. This shape can be worn as mini skirts, knee lengths, tea-lengths, or full dresses. It is also a popular shape for gowns such as wedding and prom dresses.

A-line dresses are a popular choice for formal wear for children. They are age-appropriate without being too conservative. For adults, this style of dresses are the choice for those who want an hourglass figure. The reason is that the cinched waist and flared bottom gives off a silhouette similar to an hourglass figure which women crave for.

This shape is compatible for any type of occasion as well. For casual days at the park or doing errands, dresses like this may be worn with ballet flats, flip flops, or gladiator sandals. For semi-formal and smart casual occasions, they can be in more luxurious fabrics such as silk, wool, or satin. They can be paired with wedges or peep-toe heels. For ultra formal events such as weddings, these are best worn at lengths below the knee or to the floor and paired with stilettos or pumps.

It’s easy to see why A-line dresses have a huge following. Many people coming from different backgrounds and professions find this style and silhouette to be appropriate for all ages and all occasions.

From its stellar beginnings as a brainchild of two of the most well-known luxury fashion houses, it has journeyed through time to become one of the most iconic and memorable style of clothing. In fact, its resurgence is enough proof that it is going to be in the fashion scene for the longest time possible.

It is one of the few styles and shapes that boast a good reputation for being classy, timeless, and sexy at the same time. To be sure, with the creativity of young designers in the fashion industry today, we will be seeing more and more of the A-line dress in various styles.

Michelle Harper’s Fashion

We are absolutely enthralled by one of New York’s top style mavens. Michelle Harper is one that reminds me of Lady Gaga, a confident lady who is not afraid to experiment with style or fashion and is often seen wearing talking pieces, something in the likes of the large blonde ribbon hair-like bow that Lady Gaga wore, or the lace eye mask that she donned. At times, I will also relate her to Dita Von Teese, probably due to her slight vintage feel and that bright or dark red lipstick that she’s often seen wearing.

However, Michelle Harper’s fashion is unique. Her’s is a more elegant avant garde style. Lady Gaga is geared towards controversial style with meat dresses, granny pants and all. Dita Von Teese is well-known for her extreme vintage looks. Neither is Michelle from the entertainment industry. According to Wikifashion, Michelle Violy Harper owns a multi-million dollar cosmetics company, and she sits on the board of Couture Council in the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.

With such impressive background, it is no wonder that she can afford to indulge in her passion for fashion to create such dramatically glam looks that most ordinary women will be happy to ogle at, but not brave enough to attempt or can’t afford to try. Still, if her enchanting style can spark off some tiny inspiration, aspirations or changes in our personal style, it’ll be worth our attention.

Everyday in Ballet Flats

If there’s one thing that Audrey Hepburn is known for, it’s for being the most iconic fashionable woman. One thing she is particularly known for is for popularizing are ballet flats.

Ballet flats are a very versatile pair of shoes. For one thing, they’re comfortable enough to wear everyday to work, while doing errands, or simply going about town. They are an affordable addition to your shoe collection as well. In addition to being a staple in every woman’s closet, ballet flats have a good celebrity following  ranging from musicians to actresses and reality stars. Why does it have such a huge fan base?

Ballet flats are typically made for walking.  The most important factor to consider when buying ballet flats is to check how it feels on your feet. The good ones fit snugly and follow the contour of your foot. They are also made with proper cushioning at the sole so that walking isn’t much of a chore for your dainty feet.

When choosing a pair, there are many things you have to consider. Remember that choosing which shoes to wear is like choosing an outfit- it has to go with everything you already have. Here are some things you might want to keep in mind.

Style

There are plenty of styles to choose from, but you might want to go for classic colors such as red, navy, black, and nude. They can be embellished or as plain as a canvas, but make sure that they are understated so that they go well with all the clothes in your closet.

Ballet flats are inspired from ballet shoes that dancers wear with their tutus. Thus, there is only one shape for the front- rounded. Pointy toes aren’t considered ballet flats; they are simply called flats. They are different from moccasins and oxfords. The former is made of suede and is usually brown while the latter is made of leather and has straps.

Ballet flats, in conclusion, have round toes that are either embellished or plain. They can be made of genuine or faux leather depending on the model.

Occasion

Flats used to be categorized as casual wear. With the progress that is fashion, we now see them in the office, at weddings, and even in cocktail parties. Darker colors with bejeweled fronts or lace work best with formal wear. Light colors, pastels, and dainty ribbons and prints are great to wear during casual weekends.

How To Wear Them

This kind of shoe works well for ladies with small feet and slender ankles. The shape of the shoe emphasizes a dainty foot, so it is best worn with outfits that exude femininity.

They look their best with mini skirts, A-lines, and tea-length skirts and dresses. They also enhance the silhouette of a body-hugging dress or a pencil skirt. For jeans, you might want to go on the more slender side. They look especially adorable when worn with straight cuts and skinny jeans. If you’re on the short side, go to full lengths. Otherwise, if you have the height, capris paired with this kind of shoe is so vintage.

Go on, experiment with different colors, looks, and styles. You can never go wrong with these shoes.
