Chinese-Korean collaborations in entertainment is becoming more frequent recently. From the initial acceptance of K-pop idols within the Chinese music industry to Korean actors and idols venturing into Chinese dramas and films.

A recent venture of sort is Hur Jin Ho’s Chinese film, Dangerous Liaisons which featured Chinese superstars Cecilia Cheung and Zhang Ziyi, with Korea’s favorite leading man Jang Dong Gun. The A-list casts attended a star-studded VIP premiere of the movie at the Yeouido CGV Theater in Seoul, South Korea on October 11. The stars were greeted enthusiastically by fans, and as always, events like these are the perfect opportunity to showcase their fashion instincts.

Lead actress Cecilia Cheung and K-pop star Yoona of SNSD wore outfits that were poles apart for the premiere.

Cecilia wowed Korean fans with a long sky blue sheer gown that fit her elegantly. Though it sported a trailing skirt and a full sleeve, the daring neckline and the sheer fabric decorated with sprays of delicate beads made the dress far from conservative and made it appropriately sexy.

Yoona Korean Fashion

Yoona was one of many Korean stars that graced the event. She opted for a more casual take with metallic gray short outfit to make her look more appropriate for the event’s theme. The pop star sashayed down the red carpet in a black sweater with silver thread detailing paired with a metallic brocade mini skirt. She completed her hip yet formal look with dark stockings and dark heels.

If you can go long or short in a formal event, which type would you wear?

Girl’s Day’s Mina, SNSD’s Sooyoung and Other Kpop Stars Wear Hot Summer Pants in Fall

Mina Korean Fashion

Mina Korean Fashion

In Korea, the sultry summer is passing quickly and the winds of fall are taking over. Usually, this is the time for people on the street to be sporting their cardigans, snug pants, and boots. Celebrities however, are reversing the trend by exposing their smooth and shapely legs with sexy hot pants. How to pull the look off?

The 2012 summer season saw the popularity of the white hot pants paired with brightly colored shirts, and now the look is crossing over to liven the fall scene. Put on crisp white hot pants with a bright jacket like Girl’s Day’s Mina (above left) and pair with funky silver sneakers for a youthful look. Another take is to coordinate the color of your shirt with your sneakers, such as a red-and-white striped shirt with red Chuck Taylors to play off the white hot pants. Short leather boots can alternate with sneakers.

Sooyoung Korean Fashion

A distinctly vintage feel is the blue denim hot pants paired with the classic white shirt. Play around with the wash of the denim and the cut of the shirt to get the desired look. The key to this style is minimalism—don’t overdo it with the accessories and the loud makeup. SNSD’s Sooyoung (far left) shows off her endless legs with a basic white tee tied at the waist, high waist dark blue denim hot pants and platform heeled white sneakers. Secret’s Jieun (second from the right) adds to the look by putting a dark green plaid shirt over the white tee for a cool vibe. Try a white sheer blouse with distressed faded denim hot pants and nude heels or black leather boots.

Sooyoung Korean Fashion

Another popular celebrity look is the black hot pants plus tailored jacket, usually finished with black leather boots. Of the three hot pants combinations, this one though is more fitting for fall. Sooyoung again shows off the look in a shapely taupe marching band-style blazer with gold chain. The fun thing about this look is that there are many structures of jackets to choose from, from slim, to boxy and cropped.

So if your legs can take the cold and bring in the heat, choose from any of these Korean celebrity looks and start flaunting your own hot pants!

She finishes her look with black hot pants, and in some shots, a black bowler hat.

SNSD leader Taeyeon completes the pack, wearing the most interesting printed shirt of the bunch. It is a black loose fitting tee adorned with gold beads and patterns, fit over fishnet sleeves and worn with sheer black cutoffs.

Some of the girls completed the signature look with loose corkscrew curls and the adornment of black bows, an updated, more muted take on the big 80’s blown out hairstyles. All of them  were rocking the chunky heeled black leather boots, paired with either black fishnets, sheer tights or striped high socks.

The overall look is tough and chic, sassy and sweet, and you can easily pull out your favorite pieces from SNSD’s style and incorporate it with your own. Then you too can be pretty in 80’s grunge, the SNSD way.
